As of 11 pm on Monday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that the “Severe Cyclone Michaung” is situated 130 km north of Chennai. The cyclone is projected to move parallel to the South Andhra coast and is anticipated to cross between Nellore and Machilipatnam on the forenoon of December 5 as a severe cyclonic storm.

The approaching Cyclone Michaung has led to heavy rainfall and severe waterlogging in various areas of Chennai as it advances towards the North Tamil Nadu coast. The IMD has issued predictions of substantial rainfall in Chennai and its surrounding regions for the next 24 hours.
